Results - DePaul Cross Country Opener Get Acrobat Reader

Lincolnwood, Ill. - Kristen Heckert was impressive in her first race of the 2008 season with a team-best 11th-place finish at the DePaul Cross Country Opener on Friday at Channel Runne Park.

Heckert was edged out of 10th place by just a few seconds (15:26) by Northwestern's Rachel Edwards (15:24) in the 4K race.

As a team, the Flames placed fifth out of seven.

Danyelle Somerfield was UIC's second-best runner with a 16:04 mark, while Mary Brennan finished the course in 16:33.

Rounding out UIC's showing in the season opener was Rosemary Gillam (16:56), Stephanie Johnson (17:19), Maritza Gomez (18:10) and Lindsey McNamara (19:23).

The Flames head to the Illinois Intercollegiates in Normal, Ill. on Friday, Sept. 19.
