Indianapolis, Indiana - Junior Monieka Thompson (Chicago, Ill./Steinmetz) broke her own outdoor record in the 800-meter run at the Woodland Mortgage Indiana US Track and Field Championships hosted by Butler at IUPUI on Saturday.

Thompson, who set the original record of 2:12.44 last season, placed third in the finals with a blazing time of 2:09.78. Thompson's classmate Amy Fehrman (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles) turned in the only other top ten mark for the Flames as she tied for eighth place in the high jump with a height of 5-feet, 3 inches.

Senior Neto Alexander (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad/Queen's Royal College) was the top performer on the men's side as he collected two top five finishes. Alexander placed third in the 100-meter dash (11.08) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (22.11).

Alexander's classmate Chris Stanley (Chicago, Ill./Lyons Township) lowered his team-best mark in the 800-meter run with an 11th-place finish of 1:54.34.

The Flames will be back in action this Saturday, as they will return to Indianapolis, Indiana to participate in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field championships.
