Both Teams Sit in Third Following Day Two of HL Outdoors|

Kellie Schuh set the Horizon League record in the pole vault, highlighting the UIC men's and women's track & field team's performance during day two of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships at the Krauss-Miller-Lutz Outdoor Athletics Complex.
Schuh leaped 3.97 meters, an all-time League best, to lead two first-place finishes during Saturday's women's events. Ariel Kirby also won her heat of the 800-meter, crossing the finishing line in 2:09.16. In the men's events, Michael Stupka took first in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 49.01 seconds.
"It was a great day for us, as we had a school record in the women's steeplechase, and a Horizon League record by Kellie Schuh in the pole vault," said head coach Jim Knoedel. "Our Multi athletes did a tremendous job grabbing a pair of third-place in the men's and women's events. We're looking forward to Sunday's final round."
Jaime Johnson set a school record in the steeplechase, finishing in 12:03.08. Notably, John Glass took fourth in the steeplechase, finishing in 9:39.54 in a tough field. On the women's side, Jaime Johnson took third in the same event, crossing the finishing line in 11:03.96, breaking her previous school record by more than 20 seconds.
The Flames will wrap up competition in the Horizon League Championships Sunday, with the women's shot put getting the festivities started at 11 a.m. CST.
