    YPSILANTI, Mich. - The UIC men's and women's track & field teams posted a combined 14 top-five finishes on day two of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships at Rynearson Stadium Saturday. Both teams enter Sunday's final day in sixth place.

    Freshman Matt Marzahl and junior Jennifer Johnson wrapped up the decathlon and heptathlon Saturday morning after collecting a pair of strong performances on Friday's opening day of competition. Marzahl finished first in the discus throw decathlon and second in the pole vault decathlon, finishing fourth in the overall competition (5,585). Meanwhile, Johnson took second in the heptathlon javelin throw, wrapping up the overall competition in third place (4,439).

    On the men's side, junior Angelos Karkalis finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the finishing line in 9:39.57. Junior Andrew Rosete tied for third in the pole vault (4.30 meters), while Marzahl took fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters.

    On the women's side, junior Sharon Mwale finished third in the high jump (1.61 meters), while sophomore Tess Ehrhardt (11:15.53) and senior Jaime Johnson (11:18.64) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
