Elmhurst, Ill. - Freshman Jenni Goebel (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) turned in two top-five performances to help UIC to an eighth-place finish of 18 points at the Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational at Elmhurst College on Saturday.

Wheaton captured the overall title with 139 points, followed by Loyola 126, Elmhurst 108.5, College of DuPage 93, Chicago State 72.5, North Park 62, Concordia 44, UIC 18, St. Francis 17, Benedictine 17, Oakton 0, Eureka 0, Trinity Christian 0.

Goebel coasted to a first-place finish of 18:30.97 in the 5,000-Meter Run. Her nearest competitor finished 28 seconds behind. She also placed fourth in the 3,000-Meter run with a time of 10:56.90.

Junior Joe Kepinski (Wadsworth, Ill./Warren) helped the men's team to a ninth-place finish of 18 points with a first-place, personal-best pole vault of 14-feet.

Elmhurst captured the men's team title with 168 points followed by Wheaton 137.5, Loyola 106.5, College of DuPage 76, Chicago State 63, North Park 52, Benedictine 21, Concordia 19, UIC 18, Eureka 13, Oakton 10, Trinity Christian 9, St. Francis 0.

UIC will have two squads in action this weekend as the Flames will travel to Des Moines, Iowa on Friday to participate in the prestigious Drake Relays. The Flames will also host the first annual UIC Invitational at St. Ignatius High School on Saturday at 9 a.m.
