Elmhurst, Ill. - Junior Amy Fehrman recorded a career-best leap of 5-feet, 4 ½ inches to claim the high jump title and propel the University of Illinois at Chicago women's track and field team to an 8th place finish of 34.5 points out of 13 teams.

Freshman Nick Gazis turned in a fourth-place throw of 41.64 meters in the discus throw as the men's squad placed 12th out of 13 teams with 9.5 points.

Loyola captured the women's title with 133 points, followed by Wheaton College (108), DePaul (93), College of DuPage (85), Elmhurst College (69), Concordia (50), North Park (48), UIC (34.5), University of St. Francis, (32.5), Benedictine (31.5), Olivet Nazarene (28.5), Dubuque (14) and Trinity Christian (3).

Wheaton College took home the men's title with 118 points, followed by Dubuque (112), Elmhurst College (89.5), Loyola (78.5), College of DuPage (75.5), Chicago State (55), DePaul (46.5), North Park (41), Olivet Nazarene (34.5), Concordia (30), Oakton Community College (10), UIC (9.5) and Trinity Christian (1).

The women's squad set another school record as junior Jessica Pancoska placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:35.87, followed by previous record-holder Sara Jeffers (12:05.00).

Senior Joe Kepinski also turned in an impressive performance on the men's side with a fourth-place finish of 12-feet, 6-inches in the pole vault.

UIC will be back in action this weekend, as they will host the second annual UIC invitational at St. Ignatius High School at 10:00 AM.
