Lawrence, Kansas - Sophomore Jenni Goebel (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) captured the 5,000-meter run title at the highly prestigious and 75th annual Kansas Relays on Thursday afternoon.

Goebel crossed the finish line in 17:57.37, beating her nearest competitor by nearly seven and a half seconds.

"Jenni led from start to finish," UIC head track and field coach Jim Knoedel said. "She did a real good job."

UIC will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Kansas Relays, and will also have another squad at the Elmhurst Invitational on Saturday at 10:00 AM.
