    Macomb, Ill. - Sophomore Sara O'Mara broke the school record in the hammer throw with a 11th-place heave of 134'3" to help lead UIC to a 10th-place finish at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Meet, hosted by Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon.

    Simeko Washington set the previous record of 132'10" in 2002.

    Western Illinois won the overall title with 184 points, followed by Memphis (130.5), UW-Milwaukee (125), Marquette (86), Northern Illinois (57.5), Eastern Illinois (54), DePaul (45), Loyola (41), Bradley (26), UIC (11) and Chicago State (6).

    Senior Monieka Thompson also turned in an impressive effort in the 800-meter run with a fourth-place finish of 2:17.41.

    UIC will be back in action on Thursday, as they will travel to Lawrence, Kan., to participate in the Kansas Relays through Saturday. The Flames will also participate in the Elmhurst Invitational on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
