    Charleston, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago sophomore sprinter Jessica Fouche shattered the school-record in the 100-meter dash by nearly a second, leading the women's track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the Big Blue Classic, hosted by Eastern Illinois, on Saturday afternoon.

    Fouche cruised to a time of 12.16, cruising past teammate Tamika Johnson's record of 13.14, set last season.

    Indiana State captured the overall title with 185 points, followed by Eastern Illinois (178), Marquette (131), Northern Illinois (130), UW-Milwaukee (98.5), UIC (48.5), Bradley (21) and Western Illinois (18).

    Senior distance runner Stephanie Maisel earned her first career victory with a winning time of 19:35.45 in the 5,000-meter-slow section run.

    Senior Jenni Goebel placed second overall in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 17:57.20.

    The Flames also received a solid performance from their 4x100 relay team with a third-place mark of 48.23.

    UIC will be back in action this weekend, as they will travel to Naperville, Ill., to participate in the Chicagland Championships, hosted by North Central College.
