    WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Members of the UIC men's and women's track and field teams battled through uncooperative weather to compete at the Mike Poehlein Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Purdue University.

    It was all the usual suspects who performed well for UIC at the meet.

    For the women, throwers Monique Bostert and Erin Clark each set personal-bests in both the hammer throw and the javelin. In the hammer throw, Bostert posted a mark of 44.04 meters, while Clark produced a throw of 43.70 meters. Bostert's javelin toss sailed 26.11 meters, while Clark's effort went 25.18 meters.

    Sophomore Kellie Schuh claimed sixth place in the pole vault with a height of 3.42 meters.

    On the men's side, UIC's distance runners had a strong showing on Saturday. Brian Denk finished fourth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:53.40. Sam Kehoe also finished the race 13th with a time of 15:34.91.

    Sprinter Anthony Hollingsworth finished ninth in the 100 meter dash (11.03 seconds) and 12th in the 200 meter dash (22.41 seconds).

    Lewis Brown finished ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.47.

    The men's 4 x 400 relay squad of Josh Stanner, Matt Zaluckyj, Farrahadoon Durrani and Brown posted a fifth-place finish with a mark of 3:22.71.

    The Flames will be back in action this weekend at the Chicagoland Invitational.
