Track & Field Closes Out Indoor Season At Carthage Last Chance Meet
March 7, 2008 Kenosha, Wis. - The UIC men's and women's track and field team concluded its indoor season in stellar fashion by claiming five event titles at the Carthage College Athletics Gill Last Chance Meet on Friday night. Ezekiel Sayon was impressive as he took first place honors in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.45 seconds. Sayon also placed a close second in the 200-meter dash (23.24). Mikhail Morrison achieved his first event title of the season, winning the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 50.94 seconds. Morrison also took fourth place in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 23.69 seconds. Joe Bailey finished out his indoor campaign winning his third weight throw crown of the season. Bailey took the title with a heave of 16.46 meters. Rounding out the men's event titles included a first place finish for the 4x400-meter relay team as they crossed the finish line with a time of 3:35.52. Josh Stanner also highlighted the men's squad with two third place performances in the 200-meter dash (23.30) and the 400-meter dash (51.98). On the women's side, Monique Bostert picked up the lone title for UIC in the weight throw with a heave of 15.27 meters. Bostert also placed second in the shot put with a distance of 11.67 meters. Kaci Boston and Idara Essien also finished in fourth and fifth place in the 55-meter dash with times of 8.04 and 8.21 seconds. The Flames will open up the outdoor season on Saturday, March 29 at the Chicago Open.
