Milwaukee, Wis. - The University of Illinois at Chicago women's track and field squad is in good shape after one day of action in the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by UW-Milwaukee, at the Klotsche Center on Saturday evening.

Senior Monieka Thompson cruised to a victory in the 400-meter dash as she crossed the finish line at 59.01 to move onto the finals. She also advanced into the 800-meter run finals with a mark of 2:25.08.

Sophomore transfer Crystal Sanders advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles as she won her heat with a school-record breaking time of 9.1. She set the record earlier this season with a mark of 9.28 at the Kent State Invitational.

Sanders then moved on to the 200-meter dash finals with a qualifying and personal best time of 26.7.
