    Greencastle, Ind. - Junior Monique Bostert broke her own school record en route to the title in the weight throw, highlighting the UIC women's track and field team's first day of competition at the 2009 Horizon Indoor Championships at DePauw University.

    Bostert's winning heave of 17.26m bettered her previous mark of 17.03m set back on Jan. 24 at the Redbird Invitational.

    In other action, freshman Aimee Schuh broke the school record in the pentathlon with 3100 points, winning three (800-meter run, 60-meter hurdles, long jump) of the five events en route to a podium finish.

    Aimee also qualified for Sunday's final in 60-meter hurdles.

    Her sister, Kellie Schuh, placed third in the pole vault (3.10m) on Saturday for the Flames.

    As a team, UIC sits in third place with 29 points after day one. Milwaukee leads the meet at the halfway point with 58 points.

    The Flames will conclude competition at the Horizon League Championships on Sunday with the meet starting at 9:00 a.m. Fans can follow the meet by logging on to horizonleague.cstv.com.
