Milwaukee, Wis. - Sophomore Sara O'Mara turned in a second-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 36'5" at the UW-Milwaukee Tune-Up at the Klotsche Center on Friday night.

O'Mara also placed fourth overall in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 43'2 ?". Teammate Danielle Simpson edged her for third place with a career-best mark of 45' 4 ?".

Freshman Lauren Quinn broke her own school-record in the pole vault with a fourth-place finish of 8'6".

The Flames also received personal bests from: Korinne Krych (60-meter dash, 8.13; 200-meter dash, 27.16); Crystal Sanders (60-meter dash, 8.17; 200-meter dash, 26.78); Gloria Jackson (200-meter dash, 27.81); Sara Jeffers (1-mile run, 5:24.02) and Lizet Diaz (1-mile run, 5:24.36); Jessica Streit (1-mile run, 5:26.58).

"It's exciting to see us peaking at the right time for the Horizon League championships next weekend," UIC head coach Jim Knoedel said.

UIC will be back in action on Saturday, as they will participate in the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by UW-Milwaukee at 4:00 p.m.
