Women's Track and Field Garners Third-Place Finish At UW-Milwaukee Panther Tune-up|

Milwaukee, Wis. - University of Illinois at Chicago senior distance specialist Jenni Goebel broke her own record in the 3,000-meter run with a dominating, first-place finish of 10:14.82, helping the Flames to a mark of 2-2 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Tune-up at the Klotsche Center on Friday night.
Goebel, who defeated the second-place finisher by over 44 seconds, broke her own mark of 10:16.98, set as a sophomore in 2002.
For the evening, UIC defeated both Loyola (78-61) and Wisconsin (87-36), while falling to both Marquette (89-59) and UWM (89-52).
UWM finished the meet undefeated with three victories, followed by Marquette (3-1), UIC (2-2), Loyola (1-3) and Wisconsin (0-3).
The Flames also finished with a trio of third-place finishes from sophomores Rowsha LaBranche (400-meter run, 58.6), Laura Otepka (high jump, 1.52 meters) and freshman Ausra Buzenas (weight throw, 14.85 meters).
UIC will be back in action on Saturday evening, as they will travel to DePauw, Ind., to participate in the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Butler, at 5:00 p.m.
