Milwaukee, Wis. - In its last meet before the Horizon League Indoor Championships, the UIC track and field team collected six individual event top finishes on Friday at the UWM Double Dual at the Klotsche Center.

The men's team went 1-1 in the double dual format, edging out Loyola, 75.50-72.50, while dropping a decision to host UW-Milwaukee, 84.0-65.0. The women's team came up on the short end to both the Ramblers (76.0-50.0) and Panthers (98.0-35.0).

Freshman Amesha Baker gave the women's team its lone top finish as she placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 11.77m while teammate Sarah Morrison took second (10.47m) in the event.

The men's team was just as successful in the field events.

Andy Wall finished first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.93m. Reigning Horizon League Athlete of the Week Mike Savegnago took top honors in the pole vault, going over the bar at 4.73m. Terell Williams won the triple jump with a leap of 13.41m.

Senior Jim Sulzberger gave the Flames a top finish on the track, crossing first in the 3,000-meter race in 9:10.61. Brandon Stoffregen, meanwhile, claimed the crown in the 800-meter race in 1:58.14.

Other notable performances included Rowsha LaBranche taking second in the 400-meter dash (1:00.56) and Sam Watson placing second in the mile race in 4:25.48.

 

 

UIC will be back in action next weekend at the Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.
