Indianapolis, Ind. - The University of Illinois at Chicago women's track and field team received a school-record performance from its 4x400 relay team at the Cannon IV Classic, hosted by Butler University on Saturday afternoon.

The quartet of Gloria Jackson, Monieka Thompson, Crystal Sanders and Korinne Krych palced 10th overall with a mark of 4:06.33 to break the previous record of 4:07.73 set by Thompson, Jill Marquette, Latrice Ivy and Kim Brown in 2001.

Thompson also placed fourth overall in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:12.84.

"All in all it was a very productive weekend," UIC head coach Jim Knoedel said. "It was exciting to see the improvement in times and we have a lot to look forward to in the weeks to come."

UIC will be back in action on Friday evening, as they will travel north to participate in the UW-Milwaukee Quadrangular at 4:00 p.m.
