MILWAUKEE - The Karkalis twins stole the show for the UIC track & field teams at Friday's Panther Tune-Up.  Angelos Karkalis brought home the individual title in the 800-meter run, while Photis Karkalis took second in the 1-Mile Run. At the EIU Friday Night Special, Rebecca Zaiter broke the school record in the 1-Mile.

Angelos Karkalis crossed the finishing line in 1:55.15, convincingly outpacing the field of nine runners. Meanwhile, Photis Karkalis ran the 1-Mile in 4:21.00. Gunnar Sterne also finished second in the 800-meter run (1:55.85), while Aimee Schuh placed third in both the long jump (5.05 meters) and 60-meter hurdles (9.12 seconds). Zach Harman (12.20 meters in the weight throw) and Jordan Banks, who leaped 12.81 meters in the triple jump, both collected third-place individual tallies.

Zaiter accounted for 10-of UIC's 15 team points at the EIU Friday Night Special. In just her first time competing in the 1-Mile Race, Zaiter broke the indoor school record in the 1-Mile Run, crossing the finishing line in 5:03.06. Grace Millhorn also collected five team points, posting a time of 10:42.25 in the 3,000-meter run.
