Romeoville, Ill. - It was a banner day for the freshmen on the University of Illinois at Chicago men's and women's track and field teams as they provided a glimpse of a bright future in store for the Flames at the Friday night series, hosted by Lewis University.

Freshman Sara O'Mara broke the school-record in the weight-throw for the third time this season as she recorded a fourth-place mark of 44-feet, 11-inches at the Lewis Friday Night Track and Field series.

Classmate Lizet Diaz turned in an impressive performance in the mile run, as she was runner-up with a time of 5:30.13. Sophomore Sarah Teren placed fifth overall in the 3,000-meter run with a personal best mark of 11:13.25.

On the men's side, Graham Waller turned in a personal-best mark of 4:33 in the mile run.

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday as they will travel to Indianapolis, to participate in the highly prestigious Canon Invitational.
