    Romeoville, Ill. - Senior Monieka Thompson and sophomore Crystal Sanders each picked up victories for the University of Illinois at Chicago at the Lewis University Friday Night Series.

    Thompson captured the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 2:17.33, while Sanders took home the 55-meter hurdles title with a mark of 8.58. Sanders also placed sixth in the 55-meter dash (7.57).

    Danielle Simpson placed second overall in the weight throw with a season-best heave of 44'6", while teammate Sara O'Mara was third in the shot put with a mark of 36'10 ?".

    Korinne Krych also earned a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 1:02.14.

    The Flames also earned runner-up finishes from both their 800-meter relay (1:47.81) and Distance Medley Relay (12:50.05).

    "We performed real well," UIC head coach Jim Knoedel said. "People stepped up (on Friday) and turned in some pretty good efforts."

    UIC will be back in action on February 15th, as they will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to participate in the Cannon Classic at 10:00 a.m.
