Men and Women's Track and Field Teams Show Marked Improvements at UW-Milwaukee Double Dual Invite
Jan. 21, 2001 Milwaukee, Wisc. - UIC track and field coach Jim Knoedel was looking for a marked improvement from both the men's and women's team following the UW-Parkside Indoor Track and Field Invitational last Friday. This past Friday provided Knoedel that opportunity at the UW-Milwaukee Double-Dual Invitational. UIC received victories from senior Neto Alexander (55-meter dash, 6.54), junior Joe Kepinski (pole vault, 3.98 meters), junior Monieka Thompson (400-meter dash, 58.92) and sophomore Amy Fehrman (high jump, 1.63 meters). "I was pleased with a lot of the athletes," Knoedel said. "We've shown improvement and that's nice to see. As long as we continue to improve, we should be happy down the road." In head-to-head action, the women's team went winless in their meets against DePaul (69-33), Detroit (109-30), Loyola (57-39), Marquette (104-27) and UW-Milwaukee (93-41).
The men recorded a victory over Chicago State (67-53) but fell to DePaul (80-50), Detroit (87-52), Loyola (56-55), Marquette (101-38) and UW-Milwaukee (73-55).
