1998-99: Was sidelined the majority of the cross country campaign with an injury ran in only the first two meets of the year, placing 34th at the UIC Home Opener (12:42) and 29th at the Bradley Invitational (19:49) took third place in both the 3000m 5000m at the Elmhurst Invitational, crossing the finish line in 11:31.44 and 19:36.03, respectively her 19:36.03 in the 5000m was her top time of the season.
1997-98: Competed in all eight fall events...was the only Flame to run in each fall outing...finished 16th at the season-opening UIC Quadrangular with a time of 12:49...best showing of the year came at the Wright State Invitational, as she placed 14th with a time of 20:40...turned in UIC's third-fastest time at the MCC Championships, 20:00, to finish 25th...won the Elmhurst Invitational 3000m with a 10:56.5¼placed fifth at the MCC Indoor Championship with a 10:41.49 in the 3000m.
Prep/Personal: All-around athlete, lettered in cross country, basketball and track at Madonna High School...was the 1996-97 team MVP in cross country and track while earning the Coaches Award in basketball...hailed as Madonna's Athlete of the Year in 1996-97...finished eighth in the state in cross country...holds school records for the 3200m (12:16.5) and the two mile...was a state finalist at the IHSA three-point shootout...was a GCAC All-Division player in basketball...special mention all-area in basketball by the Chicago Sun-Times...holds Madonna records for most three-point field goals in a game, season and career...daughter of Gloria Matthews...born January 2, 1980...majoring in education.
