    UIC's Contingent Wraps up Competition in Last Chance Meet

    Select student-athletes from the UIC men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Dr. Keehler Invitational, on the campus of North Central University on Friday. UIC posted a combined five top-20 individual finishes in the final tune-up before postseason competition at the end of the month.

    The UIC men's and women's track & field teams both finished fifth at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships after the conclusion of Sunday's events at Rynearson Stadium. Sophomore Rebecca Zaiter recorded a strong showing for the women's team, finishing second in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs.

    The UIC men's and women's track & field teams posted a combined 14 top-five finishes on day two of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships at Rynearson Stadium Saturday. Both teams enter Sunday's final day in sixth place.

    Marzahl, Johnson Fair Well in Decathlon, Heptathlon on Day One

    Sophomore multi-event specialist Matt Marzahl won two-of-five events in the decathlon during the first day of the Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Rynearson Stadium Friday afternoon, finishing first-place in both the high jump and shot put. In addition, junior Jennifer Johnson won the shot put in the heptathlon.

    The UIC men's and women's track & field teams will look to continue their recent success this weekend, when the Flames make the trip to Ypsilanti, Mich., to compete in the 2013 Horizon League Outdoor Championships. The meet will be held at Rynearson Stadium, the home to Eastern Michigan University football.

    The UIC men's track & field team collected its first team title of the outdoor season Friday, when the Flames racked up 103 points to pull away from the 14-team field. Between the men's and women's teams, UIC collected six individual titles and a total of five second-place finishes.
