CHICAGO – The UIC women’s tennis team released its 2013 competitive schedule Wednesday, after concluding its fall season in October.  The Flames will return to competition at the Purdue Hidden Dual on Jan. 19, before kicking off the dual season against Marquette on Feb. 1.

During the fall, the Flames competed at the DePaul Invitational (Sept. 28-30), Michigan State Invitational (Oct. 5-7), Northwestern Invitational (Oct. 12-14) and the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional (Oct. 18-20).  In the four events, UIC combined to go 33-26 in singles and collected eight wins through doubles play.

The 2013 dual season gets underway on Friday, Feb. 1, when UIC heads to Milwaukee to take on Marquette at 4 p.m. (CT).  The team returns home to play at its indoor facility, Match Point Tennis Club in Griffith, Ind., on Feb. 3 versus Northern Iowa at 10 a.m.

The Flames are scheduled for a pair of weekend matches in Des Moines, Iowa, going up against North Dakota at 9 a.m. on Feb. 9 and South Dakota at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 10, before returning to Match Point for a 1 p.m. match against Toledo on Feb. 16.

A stint on the road begins Feb. 23 in Kalamazoo, Mich., against Western Michigan (1 p.m.), then to Normal, Ill., on March 2 to take on Illinois State (1 p.m.) and finally DeKalb, Ill., on March 9 to face Northern Illinois (1 p.m.).  UIC ends its road trip on March 16 in Madison, Wis., against Wisconsin at 1 p.m., before turning around on March 17 for a 10 a.m. match versus Bowling Green at Match Point.

The Flames open Horizon League play on March 23 in Dayton, Ohio, against Wright State at 10 a.m.  The Flames then head to Indianapolis on March 24 to go up against Butler at 11 a.m.

On March 27, the Flames head back to Match Point to battle Akron at 11 a.m., and compete in a Horizon League doubleheader on March 29 in Griffith, Ind., against Milwaukee and Green Bay.  UIC heads to the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts on April 6 for its final home match, facing Detroit at 11 a.m.

Closing out the season on the road, the Flames will face Cleveland State in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 13 at 11 a.m., Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio, on April 14, and Valparaiso on April 20 in Valparaiso, Ind.

The Horizon League Championship is scheduled to take place in Indianapolis from April 26-28.  UIC looks to continue its streak of winning 16-consecutive championships and add to its 14-straight NCAA appearances.
