CHICAGO
– UIC head women’s tennis coach Shannon Tully announced the release of the 2013-14 schedule Wednesday, in preparation of the start of the Flames fall season at the Spartan Invitational Friday.

"We have a very competitive schedule this year," Tully said.  "With three Big Ten schools and some of the strongest teams in the MAC, we definitely have the opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the Midwest.  The Horizon League has gotten much stronger, so we are focusing on getting as much work done in the fall as possible."

The Flames are scheduled to compete in the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., Sept. 27-29, and the Wildcat Invitational in Evanston, Ill., from Oct. 4-6, as they will wrap up their fall season at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regionals in Ann Arbor, Mich., from Oct. 10-14.

The 2014 dual season is set to begin on Jan. 25, when UIC takes on Marquette (10 a.m. CT) in Milwaukee, Wis., followed by an 11 a.m. match in Champaign, Ill., against Illinois on Jan. 26.

The Flames continue their slate of back-to-backs on the road when they head to Akron, Ohio, on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 to face Akron (1 p.m.) and ASA College (10 a.m.), respectively.  The following weekend (Feb. 8-9), they are set to take on Toledo (1 p.m.) in Toledo, Ohio, and Bowling Green (9:30 a.m.) in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The first home match of the season will take place Feb. 15 at Match Point Tennis Club, the indoor home for the Flames, in Griffith, Ind., against Michigan State, with UIC back on the road the following day (Feb. 16) for an 11 a.m. showdown with Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The next two matches for the Flames are back at Match Point Tennis, as they challenge Grand Canyon on Feb. 21 and Illinois State on Feb. 23.  A noon contest at Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., on March 8 is the last match before spring break.

On March 29, UIC hits the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts as it hosts Butler at 10 a.m., followed by its first Horizon League match of the season on March 30 against Wright State at 10 a.m. back at the outdoor courts.

The Flames then play their next four matches on the road against league opponents.  UIC is in Wisconsin on April 5-6, as it faces Milwaukee (10 a.m.) and Green Bay (2 p.m.), respectively.  The team then heads east when it goes up against Oakland on April 12 and Detroit on April 13.

The final two matches of the regular season will be played at home at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts, with the Flames facing Cleveland State (10 a.m.) on April 18 and Youngstown State (10 a.m.) on April 19.

The opening day of the Horizon League Championship is slated for April 25 in Indianapolis, Ind., and will last through the 27th, as the Flames make their attempt at capturing their 18th-straight title.
