Sept. 20, 2007

Chicago, Ill.-The UIC Women's tennis team released its 2007-2008 schedule this week with matches facing instate rivals, Midwestern foes and Horizon League opponents.

The Flames start their abbreviated fall season the weekend of September 21st with the DePaul Invite, featuring local teams including Northern Illinois, Chicago State, Lewis University as well as host DePaul.

Next up for the team is the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on October 18-23rd, held at the University of Michigan. Last year saw the doubles duo of senior Lubica Nadasska and Horizon League Player of the Year Callan Smith advance to the quarterfinals in the open doubles, the best showing in UIC women's tennis history.

The final tournament of the fall season takes the team to Denton, Texas for the North Texas Invitational November 2nd-4th.

The Flames start up 2008 on a string of road trips, starting off at Bowling Green on February 9th. They will meet up with the Big 12 perennial power Missouri the following weekend (Feb. 16). The last weekend on the road will take the 11 time Horizon League champions to Champaign-Urbana to face off against Illinois on February 27.

The first home match of the season faces the Flames up against Northern Illinois at Evergreen Racquet and Fitness on February 27th.

The Flames begin their quest to go undefeated against Horizon League opponents for the seventh consecutive season on April 5th at Green Bay, and conclude at Flames Courts against Cleveland State on April 20th.

The Horizon League Conference Championships will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana April 26-27th, where the Flames look to win an unprecedented 12th straight conference title and their 10th NCAA tournament berth in as many years.
