Indianapolis, Ind. - The Horizon League announced on Wednesday afternoon that 39 athletes from the University of Illinois at Chicago had been selected to its 2001-02 Academic Honor Roll.
The women's tennis team led UIC with a total of seven selections, followed closely by men's soccer (6), baseball (5), men's swimming and diving (4), women's swimming and diving (4), men's tennis (3), volleyball (3), women's cross country (2), men's basketball (1), women's basketball (1), softball (1), men's track and field (1), women's track and field (1).
Candidates for the Academic Honor Roll needed to fit three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participate in one of the League's 18 sports; 2) must have completed three semesters (four quarters on the quarter system) as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 as of April 1.
