CHICAGO - The 13-time Horizon League champion UIC women's tennis team will face the fifth-seeded Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship on Friday, May 8.

The Flames (15-7) will meet Notre Dame (24-4) in South Bend on 12 p.m. CST Friday at the Courtney Tennis Center. The winner will face either Michigan or Sacramento State from the other side of the bracket on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Irish enter the tournament fresh off their second straight Big EAST tournament title, and make their 14th NCAA appearance in a row.

UIC is making its 11th straight appearance in the NCAA tournament, winning 113-straight Horizon League matches since 1997. The Flames have not lost against a league opponent since April 1996.

The Flames met Notre Dame last in the 2007 NCAA Tournament first round, falling to the then seventh-seeded Irish by a 4-0 margin.
