Women's Tennis Inks Kansas Native To National Letter Of Intent April 15, 2002 Chicago, Ill. - With her team losing a quartet of solid players this year to graduation, the time has come for University of Illinois at Chicago head women's tennis coach Shannon Tully to reload. The reloading process is now in full swing, as the Flames have inked Corey Steven of Wichita, Kansas to a National Letter of Intent. Steven, who is finishing her senior campaign at Wichita's Kapaun Mt. Carmel High, is a national-caliber player who Tully feels will be a fantastic addition to the successful UIC tennis program. "Cory is very solid player and will be a huge asset to the team," Tully said. "She will be a very good addition both academically and on the court." The Flames will lose the services of seniors Alyson Stalzer, Karen Liwanpo, Kim Harris and Britta Dohmann next year, all of whom have never lost a league title.
UIC is 6-0 in league play thus far and will be looking for its sixth-straight league title in two weeks at the Horizon League Championships in Indianapolis on April 27-28.
