Chicago, Ill. - Ilinca Cristescu was named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week, for the period ending March 18, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The Bensenville, Ill. native earned her first league honor fresh off a successful weekend in Florida. Cristescu clinched the 4-3 Flames victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday, defeating Natalia Totevska at the No. 1 singles position, winning the three-set match 6-3, (6-7), 6-2.

On Sunday, Cristescu defeated 20th-ranked Victoria Weltz of Div. II powerhouse Lynn University, taking the top singles matchup (0-6), 6-4, 11-9.

The freshman has played in the first singles position for the majority of the spring season, and currently sits with an 11-10 record before heading into the Flames Horizon League schedule, starting April 5 at Green Bay.
