Chicago, Ill.- For the second consecutive week, University of Illinois at Chicago junior Iris Jaklin (Fischbach, Austria/BORG-Birkfield/TCU) was selected as the Horizon League Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 1st.

Jaklin took care of business for the second straight week at No. 1 singles, defeating league rival UW-Milwaukee's Tammie Spiel in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 straight sets win at the top spot.

The UIC junior also teamed with Melanie Humphrey to down Spiel and Margie Van Lieshout in an 8-1 paired win.

Last week Jaklin won the award after her No. 1 singles win helped UIC down a tough Illinois State team in a 4-3 non-conference affair.

Jaklin's honor marks the third time a Flame has been named the league's Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, with Molly Smith's selection on February 9th and Jaklin's win last week making up the previous two accolades.

UIC is back in action this Saturday in DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois at 1 p.m.
