Chicago, Ill. -The UIC women's tennis team earned its first ever Intercollegiate Tennis Association national ranking as the Flames were tabbed 73rd in the opening ITA poll released earlier this afternoon.

"It's great to be regionally ranked, but we are going to have to keep winning if we plan to stay there," commented an elated head coach Mary Dailey.

UIC (1-1) was propelled into the poll after notching a season-opening 4-3 win over then #55 Marquette.

The Flames are back in action on Friday, Feb. 2, as they travel to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois at 1:00 p.m.
