Denton, Texas - The UIC women's tennis team capped off its fall 2007 campaign with the North Texas Invitational, held in Denton, Texas over the weekend.

Sophomore Amy Jellish continued to perform well for the Flames this fall. Competing in the fourth flight, Jellish took second in the division with wins over Vicky Michaud from Texas-El Paso (6-3, 6-2) and Rachel Wilhelm of North Texas (4-6, 7-5, 11-9).

Fellow sophomore Ulrikke von Ubisch took second in the sixth Flight, with victories against Amber Brightly of Texas-El Paso (6-1, 6-4) and Kylie George of NCTC (6-1, 6-3).

Senior Grace Gill-Morlis played well in the third flight, where she took a close second place in the division with wins over Ximena Fuentes of Texas-El Paso and Monika Drabkova of Texas-San Antonio. Morlis lost a hard-fought battle against Catalina Cruz of host North Texas, falling 5-7, 7-5, 10-8.

Senior Lubica Nadasska and freshman Ilinca Cristescu paired up for doubles with strong wins over Wilhelm and Cruz of North Texas (8-3) and Bloczynska and Brightly of Texas-El Paso (9-7). The duo lost to Scilda and Dedering of Texas-San Antonio 8-5.

The UIC women's tennis squad kick off the 2008 season with a six-game road trip, starting at Bowling Green on February 9th at 1 p.m.
