Evanston, Ill.- The University of Illinois at Chicago tennis team had a short morning in the final day of the Wildcat Invitational, with only three singles matches and a doubles contest on the slate for the Flames.

Melanie Humphrey and Christina Oum teamed up for a smooth doubles victory over Nicole Belica and Madison Sellers of Wisconsin, 8-1.

Oum also had a great comeback singles win, overcoming a 7-6 loss in the first set to sweep the next two over Sellers, 6-0, 6-0.

Corey Steven notched a singles win Kristi Roemer of Northwestern, 6-4, 6-2.

Humphrey almost pulled off a nice comeback against Iowa State's Beth Chermel, returning from a 6-0 loss in the first set to win the second frame 7-5. But Chermel won the final set in a close 6-4 clincher.

Iris Jaklin was also in singles action, dropping a 6-4, 6-3 contest to Carrie Jeanmaire of Western Michigan.

UIC will be back in action on Oct.22nd as the Flames will compete in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
