Kalamazoo, Mich. -The UIC women's tennis completed competition at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon, with the Flames advancing far against some of the top competition in the region.

Ilinca Cristescu continues to pace the squad, advancing to the top flights consolation finals.

After losing her first round match to Western Michigan's Kerstin Pahl, the eventual champion, Cristescu faced Purdue's Michelle Sammons in a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (9-7) loss.

Cristescu partnered up with Jenna Reisch to win their first doubles match against Westernik and Woo of Eastern Michigan, before falling to Sammons and Rabot, the top-seeded pair from Purdue.

Mariya Kovaleva claimed victory in the Gold Consolation flight, defeating opponents from West Virginia and two Purdue athletes.

The Flames final fall tournament takes the squad to East Lansing, Mich. for the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Michigan State October 23-26.
