Women's Tennis Wraps Things Up At DePaul Invitational Sept. 17, 2000 Glen Ellyn, Ill. -The UIC women's tennis team began its fall season over the weekend as they competed in the three-day DePaul Invitational at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill. With host DePaul, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Chicago State and College of Dupage competing, the Flames captured a pair of flight titles - Singles "C" and Doubles "A". Sophomore Zvjezdana Malesevic was a perfect 3-0 in singles play en route to her Flight C singles crown. She defeated teammate Karen Liwanpo 6-1, 6-1 on Sunday for the title. Reigning MCC Player of the Year Jacki Farr, who took fourth in Flight A singles competition, teamed up with freshman Ayca Gumuscu to take home the Flight A doubles crown. The duo went 3-0 on the weekend, capping things with an 8-3 triumph over Tyioran and Kelso of Northern Illinois. Nicole Derouin and Kim Harris, who placed sixth as a team in Flight A doubles competition, each took home third-place finishes in singles play. Derouin went 2-1 on the weekend, including a 6-4, 6-2 win over Farr on Sunday in the third-place match. Harris also went 2-1 with her lone defeat coming in three sets. For the weekend UIC combined to go 12-10 in singles play while recording a 7-5 doubles mark. Mary Dailey's crew is back in action next weekend as they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio, to compete in the Falcon Invitational.
