Kalamazoo, Mich.- The nine-time defending Horizon League champion UIC women's tennis team began preparation to run their title streak to a perfect ten on Friday, opening the fall tournament slate at the annual Western Michigan Bronco Invitational.

Junior Callan Smith debuted for the Flames during the first day of the Bronco Invitational, posting the sole singles win of the day for UIC with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6) victory over Nikki Hein of Indiana.

Christina Oum, Corey Steven, Grace Gill-Morlis and Iris Jaklin were also in singles and doubles action throughout the opening day of action.

The Flames resume play tomorrow during the second day of the Bronco Invitational.
