GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UIC women’s tennis team (6-10, 3-1 HL) closed out its weekend with a 6-1 win against Green Bay (1-11, 0-5 HL) on Sunday at Western Racquet & Fitness. The Flames clinched the doubles point and went on to win five singles matches in straight sets.

UIC only needed to play out two of its three doubles matches in order to take the first point of the day. Senior Jana Knoppe and junior Keti Mebuke took a decisive 8-1 win over Rachael Menos and Lauren Miketinac at No. 2, while freshman Veronica Lacerda and sophomore Ann-Sophie Hahn shut out Carly Van Nuland and Noel Peck, 8-0, at No. 3.

In singles, senior Natalia Kuvakina competed at No. 1 singles for the second-consecutive match and picked up her first win of the season at the position with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat over Stephanie Londre. Senior Mariana Palacios continued to stay perfect at No. 2 as she took out Claudia Negron, 6-2, 6-3, for her fifth-straight win.

Knoppe tallied her fourth victory at No. 3 by blanking Menos, 6-0, 6-0, as Lacerda did the same at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Peck. Mebuke rounded out the final win at No. 4 by taking a 6-0, 6-1 win over Miketinac.

UIC’s only loss of the day came at No. 6 singles and was won by Van Nuland by default.

The Flames will continue on the road as they prepare to face Detroit on Friday at 7 p.m. CT in Southfield, Mich., at Franklin Athletic Club and Oakland on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Rochester, Mich., at Bloomfield Tennis.
