Louisville Clips Women's Tennis
March 5, 2000 Oak Park, Ill. - For the second straight day, the UIC women's tennis team was only able to manage one singles victory as they fell 7-2 to Louisville Sunday afternoon at the Oak Park-River Forest Racquet Club. The Flames were again plagued by close losses as three of UIC's defeats were three-set affairs. Emina Curic (6-4, 6-7, 6-3/No. 1), Jacki Farr (4-6, 6-3, 6-1/No.2) and Karen Liwanpo (6-1, 4-6, 6-1/No.3) were all close-call casualties. Zvjezdana Malesevic gave the Flames their lone win with a straight sets victory (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 5 singles match. Farr and Kim Harris teamed for a win in the No. 1 doubles contest, 8-5. For the second straight match, freshman Nicole Derouin did not play due to injury. UIC, now 3-9 on the season, has dropped five-straight matches and is back in action on Tuesday, March 14, when they take on Southern Illinois in Orlando, Fla.
