Oak Park, Ill. - The UIC women's tennis team fell behind early and was unable to recover, falling 5-2 to Ball State on Saturday morning.

Using the seven-point scoring system, the Flames didn't even need to play the doubles matches after dropping four of the six singles contests to give Ball State the four points they needed to secure the victory.

Jacki Farr (6-2, 6-3/No. 3) and Alyson Stalzer (6-0, 6-2/No.6) tallied UIC's two victories on the day as Emina Curic (5-7, 6-2, 6-7/No. 1) and Zorica Malesevic (2-6, 6-3, 5-7/No. 4) both lost tough three-set matches that could have changed the complexion of the contest.

In doubles play, Nicole Derouin and Kim Harris teamed for an 8-2 win in the No. 1 doubles match.

For the second-straight day, freshman, and usual No. 4 singles player, Zvjezdana Malesevic did not compete due to a illness.

UIC, which fell to 3-7 on the season with the loss, is back at home on Saturday, March 4, when they play host to Northern Arizona at 9:00 a.m.
