CHICAGO - The UIC women's tennis team (1-3) was unable to keep up with No. 74 DePaul as it suffered a 7-0 loss at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness on Sunday in their first meeting in nine seasons.

The Flames used new doubles pairings for the first time this season but fell short to the Blue Demons in all three matches.

While suffering 6-0 losses, Natalia Kuvakina and Kathryn Sharples were defeated by Patricia Fargas and Ana Vladutu at No. 1 and Keti Mebuke and Veronica Lacerda went down at No. 3 to Rebeca Mitrea and Zaina Sufi. In the final match, Jana Knoppe and Ann-Sophie Hahn came up short to Jasmin Kling and Kelsey Lawson at No. 2 with a 6-1 loss.

In singles, DePaul picked up straight-set wins at all six positions despite a strong effort from UIC. While competing at No. 1 for the first time this season, Kuvakina fell to Fargas, 6-4, 6-2. Sharples was faced with No. 52-ranked Vladutu at No. 2, where she dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision.

Hahn was outscored by Lawson, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3, while Knoppe lost her first singles match of the season to Kling, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4. At No. 5 and 6, Mebuke and Lacerda were edged by their competitors by 6-1, 6-2 finals.

The Flames will look to turnaround as they wrap up their stretch of road matches next weekend when they face Toledo on Saturday at noon CT in Toledo, Ohio, and Bowling Green on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 8:30 a.m. in Bowling Green, Ohio.
