Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago head women's swimming and diving coach Paul Moniak recently announced the signing of Emily Biancalana to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Flames next year.

"Emily will help us out in the sprint free events and will make an immediate impact on our free relay teams," Moniak said.

Biancalana, a senior at West Chicago High School, will be a big addition to the Flames' sprint freestyle corps, as she has posted some solid times in her prep career.

Biancalana, who also competes for the West Chicago Sharks club team, has gone 24.79 in the 50-yard freestyle, 54.57 in the 100-yard freestyle and 1:59.63 in the 200-yard freestyle.

She is also an excellent student, and will graduate in the top 10 percent of her class.
