Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago sophomore Jamie Redway has been named Horizon League Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week it was announced today.

On Saturday versus Northern Iowa and UW-Milwaukee, Jamie had a big meet in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Her day was headlined by a swift performance in the 1000-yard freestyle. She broke her own school record of 10:40.71 by swimming to a 10:39.25 finish, en route to the victory in that event. She was just getting started though, as she also won the 500-yard freestyle in dominating fashion in 5:16.79, and took fourth in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:56.18.

The Kansas native is the first UIC swimmer or diver to be named conference athlete of the week this season and the first since senior Andrea Bove earned the weekly honor last season back in February.

Redway and the Flames jump back in the pool this weekend with a pair of home competitions. On Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m., UIC welcomes Northern Michigan and Western Illinois, and on Saturday the Flames host Texas Christian in an afternoon affair at 2 p.m.
