Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago swimmer Laura Martensen and Flames' diver Michael Magee were named the Horizon League Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week, it was announced today.

Martensen has started her collegiate career in stellar fashion, as she won a trio of events versus St. Louis at home on Saturday afternoon in just her third collegiate meet.

The rookie won the 1650-yard freestyle in 17:51 and then picked-up the victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.67. Martensen then topped the afternoon off with an easy victory in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:16.90.

Magee was nearly flawless in the diving events for the UIC men's team.

The senior grabbed the one-meter title first with a score of 280.80, and followed that up with a win on the three-meter board scoring 300.50 points.

Both squads compete at home on Saturday, November 9, as the men's team hosts Evansville and UW-Milwaukee, while the women's team welcomes those two squads, along with Northern Iowa.

The meet is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start at the UIC Natatorium, with three-meter diving starting at 12:00 p.m.
