Chicago, Ill. - The student-athletes that are the core of the Athletics program at the University of Illinois at Chicago may be known for their athletic prowess and academic excellence, but that should not overshadow the Flames' commitment to community service.

Once again, UIC's student-athletes made a donation to the community, as they recycled their own learning tools and gave them back to some of Chicago's youth to prepare them for what is now a bit brighter future.

Student-athletes donated more than 200 used textbooks to the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago to use in their tutoring program.

The tutoring program is designed to provide enhanced educational training and opportunity to Chicago's inner-city students in elementary and high school, which is similar to the mission of the Port Academic Center, UIC's home base for study for student-athletes.
