CHICAGO - The UIC swimming and diving squad prepared themselves for the upcoming season with the annual Blue and Red Exhibition meet this morning.

"We are pleased with the first phase of the season and feel confident we are prepared to race, which will be necessary against the always formidable Wright State next weekend." said head coach Paul Moniak.

The red team, captained by seniors Andy Peterson and Shaina Israel, were victorious, defeating the Blue squad, with Brenden Dougherty and Julia Shallcross at the helm, by a 198-189 final score.

The Flames open the 2009-10 season on Friday, October 23 at the UIC Natatorium, hosting the Raiders in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
