Chicago, Ill.- As the 2006-07 swimming and diving season rapidly approaches, UIC head coach Paul Moniak has announced that seniors Blake Booher, Mike Conroy, Mark Pappalardo, Emily Biancalana and Lisa Nelson will lead the Flames' charge as this year's set of captains.

Booher and Conroy will captain the men's swimming team, while the women's squad will be led by Biancalana and Nelson. Pappalardo will take the reigns of the diving corps.

"We are excited for the 06-07 season and we look forward to these captains to lead us in a successful season," said Moniak.

All five athletes are entering their fourth season with the Flames.

Booher is a two-time Horizon League champion in the 50-yard freestyle. He recently qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials at the USA Swimming Championships in August.

Conroy is a versatile swimmer who primarily competes in the IM, butterfly and backstroke events.

Biancalana is one of the top freestylers on the women's team, while Nelson is a breaststroke specialist.

Pappalardo is a three-time NCAA Zone C Diving Championship qualifier.

UIC begins the season on Saturday, October 14th versus Eastern Illinois at the UIC Natatorium.
