UIC Swimming & Diving Schedules Finalized

CHICAGO – The 2012-13 UIC men’s and women’s swimming & diving schedules were released on Monday. The Flames will host eight meets at Flames Natatorium, highlighted by the 2013 Horizon League Championship, Feb. 27-March 2.
UIC will kick off the season by hosting the annual Blue vs. Red intersquad scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Flames will begin the regular season on the road, traveling to Dayton, Ohio, to take on Wright State in a Horizon League meet on Saturday, Oct. 13. UIC will entertain in-state foe Eastern Illinois in its regular season home opener on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The Flames will compete twice during the first weekend of November. On Friday, Nov. 2, the men’s team will take on both Northwestern and Western Kentucky in Evanston, while the women will compete against only the Wildcats. The next day (Saturday, Nov. 3), both teams will travel to Milwaukee for a Horizon League meet.
UIC will return home on Saturday, Nov. 10, when the Illinois Institute of Technology pays a visit to Flames Natatorium to take on both the men’s and women’s teams. The Flames’ women’s squad will also take on Butler in non-conference action on the same day.
The following weekend (Nov. 16-18), UIC will take part in the annual TYR Invitational in Evanston. The Flames will then be idle until Saturday, Dec. 15, when they wrap up the 2012 dual meet schedule at Western Illinois.
From Dec. 31, 2012-Jan. 9, 2013, UIC will complete its annual training trip in preparation for the second half of the dual meet campaign. UIC will resume competition on Saturday, Jan. 12, when Green Bay visits Flames Natatorium for the first of three-consecutive home meets.
The Flames will then entertain Youngstown State on Friday, Jan. 25, before hosting the annual UIC Diving Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26, beginning at 10 a.m. CST. Later that day, the Flames’ swimming teams will compete in their final road meet of the season, taking on host Valparaiso.
On Saturday, Feb. 2, UIC will wrap up the regular season by hosting Cleveland State. Just over three weeks later, the Horizon League Championship will take center stage at Flames Natatorium. The event will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 27, and wrap up on Saturday, March 2.
