UIC Swimming & Diving Schedules Finalized

CHICAGO – The UIC Swimming and Diving schedules for the 2013-14 season have been finalized, it was released Monday morning. The Flames will open the campaign with an intrasquad scrimmage on September 28.

“Once again, we think we have assembled a solid and competitive schedule for the 2013-14 season,” head coach Paul Moniak said. “With the addition of Oakland, both the men’s and women’s teams will experience a stronger competition. Our focal point is to compete well during the dual meet season and peak at the Horizon League Championships, with the goal of winning the Horizon League meet and qualifying athletes for the NCAA Championships.”

Following the Blue vs. Red scrimmage on Sept. 28, the Flames welcome Wright State to the Flames Natatorium on Oct. 5, before traveling for the next two meets. On Oct. 12, the teams will compete at Oakland in Rochester, Mich., before the swim team travels to Charleston, Ill., to oppose Eastern Illinois and IUPUI.

The Flames will hold three home events during the month of November. On Nov. 2, UIC welcomes Milwaukee, followed by Wyoming on Nov. 8 and again on Nov. 9, along with Northwestern. The teams cap off the month at the TYR Invitational (Nov. 22-24) at Northwestern.

The one meet in December is inside the Flames Natatorium against Western Illinois and Olivet Nazarene on Dec. 14. The Flames will then spend Jan. 1-9 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., training with a competition date to be announced.

Upon returning from Florida, the Flames contend Green Bay on Jan. 11, before returning to Flames Natatorium on Jan. 18 to oppose Valparaiso. The UIC Diving Invitational will be Jan. 25, while the month will be capped off with a trip to Youngstown, Ohio for a women’s only meet on Jan. 31.

The final meet before the Horizon League Championships is at Cleveland State on Feb. 1. The Flames will then return to Cleveland for the League Championships from Feb. 26-March 1.



The NCAA Zone C Diving Championships will be held from March 12-15 in Columbus, Ohio. The women’s swimming NCAA Championships will be March 20-22 in Minneapolis, Minn., while the men’s NCAA Championships will be March 27-29 in Austin, Texas.
