CHICAGO - The 2012-13 UIC women's swimming & diving team was recently named a Scholar All-American team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

"The coaching staff is very proud of this accomplishment," said head coach Paul Moniak. "It shows our student-athletes are striving to achieve a high level of success in the pool as well as the classroom."

The women's squad posted a collective team cumulative GPA of 3.02. During the 2013 spring semester, 11 women's swimmers/divers boasted a GPA of at least 3.0. Notably, Kristi Carling, Sara Pardue, Alisa Penkala and Melanie Waszak were all named to the Horizon League's 2012-13 honor roll in June.

At the 2013 Horizon League Championship at Flames Natatorium, Waszak was named Swimmer of the Meet, Whitney Johnson collected Diver of the Meet and Veronica Gibson came away with the Newcomer of the Year award.
